What Happens After You Cancel Coursera Plus?

You keep access until your billing period ends

Coursera does not revoke access immediately. You can continue taking courses and earning certificates until the end of your current billing cycle.

Certificates you earned are yours forever

Any certificates you have successfully completed and earned during your subscription remain on your Coursera profile permanently. You can still share them on LinkedIn and download them at any time.

Course progress is saved

Your progress in all courses is saved to your account. If you resubscribe later, you can pick up exactly where you left off without losing any work, quizzes, or assignments.

14-day refund window for annual plans

If you purchased Coursera Plus Annual and cancel within 14 days, you are eligible for a full refund. Monthly plans do not offer refunds, but access continues through the end of the paid period.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I keep my certificates after canceling Coursera Plus?

Yes. Any certificates you have already earned are permanently tied to your account. They stay on your profile, remain shareable on LinkedIn, and can be downloaded at any time even after canceling.

Can I get a refund for Coursera Plus?

Coursera Plus Annual offers a 14-day refund window from the purchase date. Monthly Coursera Plus subscriptions are non-refundable. If you are within the refund window, the cancellation flow will present the refund option.

What is the difference between canceling and pausing?

Canceling stops your subscription at the end of your billing period and you lose access to Plus courses. Pausing temporarily suspends billing for a set period but keeps your subscription active. Not all plans offer a pause option.

Can I still access free courses after canceling?

Yes. Coursera offers many free courses that you can audit without a subscription. You will only lose access to Plus-exclusive courses, Guided Projects, and the ability to earn certificates on free courses.

How long does cancellation take to process?

Most cancellations are processed immediately. In some cases it may take up to 24 hours for the cancellation to fully take effect. You will receive a confirmation email once it is complete.
