Cancel DocuSign on the Website

1

Log in to DocuSign

Head to docusign.com and sign in with the account that owns the subscription. If you are on a team or business plan, only the account admin can cancel -- regular users cannot do it themselves.

2

Go to My Account

Click your profile icon in the top-right corner and select My Account (or Go to Admin if you are an admin). This takes you to the account management dashboard.

3

Navigate to Plans & Billing

In the account settings, find and click Plans & Billing (or Billing). Here you will see your current plan details, billing cycle, and payment information.

4

Click Cancel Plan

Look for the Cancel Plan or Close Account option. DocuSign will ask you why you are leaving and may offer a discount or plan change to keep you. If you are on an annual contract, you may need to contact support directly.

5

Confirm Your Cancellation

Review the cancellation details, decline any retention offers, and confirm. You will receive a confirmation email. Your subscription features remain active until the end of your current billing period.

Download Your Signed Documents

Before canceling, download all your signed envelopes and documents. Go to your DocuSign inbox, select each completed envelope, and download the signed PDF. After your subscription ends, access to your document history may be limited or time-restricted. Your signed documents are legally binding regardless of your subscription status, but you need local copies for your records.

What Happens After You Cancel DocuSign?

Signed documents remain legally valid

Every document you signed or had signed through DocuSign remains legally binding. Your subscription status has zero effect on the validity of e-signatures. They comply with ESIGN Act and eIDAS regulations regardless.

You can still sign documents sent to you

Even without a paid subscription, you can receive and sign documents that others send you through DocuSign. You just lose the ability to send envelopes for others to sign.

Envelope sending stops immediately

Once your billing period ends, you cannot send new documents for signature. Any pending envelopes that have not been completed may still be accessible for a limited time, but no new sends are allowed.

Document access may become limited

While DocuSign retains your documents for a period after cancellation, your ability to access, search, and download them may be restricted. Download everything important before your plan expires.

PandaDoc

E-signatures plus document creation, proposals, and contracts all in one. Free e-signature plan available.

Adobe Acrobat Sign

Part of the Adobe ecosystem. If you already use Acrobat, adding e-signatures is seamless and well-integrated.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are my signed documents still legally valid after canceling?

Absolutely. Electronic signatures made through DocuSign are legally binding under the ESIGN Act (US), eIDAS (EU), and similar laws worldwide. Canceling your subscription has zero impact on the legal validity of any document you have already signed or had signed. The signatures are permanent.

Can I get a refund from DocuSign?

DocuSign offers a 30-day satisfaction guarantee for new individual plans purchased directly. If you are within that window, contact support for a full refund. For annual contracts or business plans, early termination may involve fees. Monthly plans are typically not refunded for the current period but will not renew.

What if I am on an annual contract?

Annual contracts with DocuSign can be trickier. You may not be able to self-service cancel online and might need to contact DocuSign support directly. Some annual plans have early termination fees or require you to wait until the contract period ends. Check your original agreement terms or contact billing support.

Can I still receive and sign documents after canceling?

Yes. You never need a paid DocuSign subscription to sign documents that others send you. The free tier lets you receive envelopes and apply your electronic signature. You only need a paid plan to send documents out for others to sign.

How do I download all my signed documents?

Log into DocuSign, go to your envelope list (Manage tab), and download each completed envelope as a PDF. For bulk downloads, look for the "Download" option when selecting multiple envelopes. Each download includes the signed document plus the certificate of completion showing the signature audit trail.
