Cancel Duolingo Plus on the Website
Log in to Duolingo
Go to duolingo.com and sign in with your account. You can use the same credentials you use on the app -- email, Google, Facebook, or Apple.
Go to Settings
Click on your profile icon and select Settings from the dropdown. You can also go directly to duolingo.com/settings.
Click Subscription
Navigate to the Subscription tab. Here you will see your current plan (Super Duolingo or Family), billing date, and how you subscribed.
Cancel your subscription
Click Cancel subscription. Duolingo will try to win you back with offers or remind you about your streak (emotional manipulation at its finest). Confirm the cancellation and you are free.
Note: If you subscribed through the iOS or Android app, the Duolingo website may redirect you to manage the subscription through your device's app store. More on that below.
Cancel on iPhone or Android
Most Duolingo subscriptions are purchased through the App Store or Google Play, which means you need to cancel there.

What Happens After You Cancel Duolingo Plus?
All lesson content remains free
Every single Duolingo lesson is available on the free plan. You do not lose access to any language courses, exercises, or stories. The owl has not locked anything away from you.
Hearts system returns
Without Plus, you have a limited number of hearts (lives). Make too many mistakes and you have to wait for hearts to refill -- or practice to earn them back. Classic Duolingo tough love.
Ads come back
You will see ads between lessons again. It is the small price you pay for free language education. Think of them as bonus vocabulary practice for advertising terminology.
Your streak and progress are safe
Your streak, XP, leaderboard position, and course progress are all preserved. Canceling Plus does not reset any of your learning data.

No. Your streak is tied to your account, not your subscription. Just keep doing your daily lessons and your streak stays alive. However, you will lose the streak freeze feature that Plus provides.

Can I cancel the Family Plan?
Only the plan owner can cancel a Duolingo Family plan. If you are a family member (not the purchaser), you need to ask the plan owner to manage the subscription.
Is the free version of Duolingo really free?

Can I get a refund?
