Cancel GoDaddy Products
Sign in to your GoDaddy account
Go to godaddy.com and sign in. Click your account name in the upper right, then select My Products to see everything you have with GoDaddy.
Find the product you want to cancel
On the My Products page, locate the specific product — hosting, domain, email, website builder, or SSL certificate. Each product type is listed in its own section. Click Manage or the three-dot menu next to the product.
Turn off auto-renewal or cancel
For domains: Go to Domain Settings and toggle off Auto-Renew. For hosting/email/builder: Click Cancel in the product management page. GoDaddy may try to offer you a discount — decline if you want to proceed.
Back up your data first
Before confirming, make sure you have downloaded backups of your website files, databases, and emails. For domains, initiate a transfer to another registrar before the domain expires.
Request a refund if eligible
After canceling, check if you are within the refund window. Go to Billing → Transaction History and look for a refund option. GoDaddy offers 30-day refunds on annual hosting and 5-day refunds on domain registrations.

What Happens After You Cancel GoDaddy?
Hosting sites go offline at expiry
When your hosting plan expires, your website goes offline. GoDaddy keeps your data for a short grace period, but there is no guarantee. Always download backups before canceling.
Domains enter a grace period
Expired domains enter a renewal grace period (usually 18-42 days depending on the TLD) before being released. You can still renew during this window, often at a higher price. Transfer to another registrar before expiry to avoid this.
Email accounts are deleted
GoDaddy email accounts are deleted when the email subscription ends. Back up all important emails and contacts. Consider migrating to Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 before canceling.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I cancel just one GoDaddy product?
Yes. Each GoDaddy product (domain, hosting, email, SSL) is managed separately. You can cancel hosting while keeping your domain, or turn off auto-renew on just one domain.
How do I transfer my domain away from GoDaddy?
Unlock your domain in Domain Settings, get the EPP/authorization code, then initiate the transfer from your new registrar (like Namecheap or Cloudflare). The transfer takes 5-7 days and costs about $10-15.
Does GoDaddy charge cancellation fees?
No. GoDaddy does not charge cancellation fees. However, refund eligibility depends on when you cancel relative to your purchase or renewal date (see refund windows above).
Can I get a refund on a domain I just registered?
GoDaddy offers a 5-day refund window on new domain registrations. After 5 days, domain fees are non-refundable. Domain renewals also have a 5-day refund window.
What alternatives are there to GoDaddy?
For domains: Cloudflare Registrar, Namecheap, Google Domains. For hosting: Vercel, Netlify, SiteGround, Bluehost. For email: Google Workspace, Microsoft 365. Many offer migration assistance.
