Cancel IFTTT on the Website
Log in to IFTTT
Go to ifttt.com and sign in with the account that has the Pro or Pro+ subscription. Straightforward so far, right?
Open Settings
Click your profile icon in the top-right corner and select Settings (or My Account) from the dropdown menu.
Go to Membership
Navigate to the Membership (or Billing) section. You will see your current plan -- either Pro or Pro+ -- along with your billing details and next renewal date.
Click Cancel
Find the Cancel membership link and click it. IFTTT will try to keep you by showing what you will lose and perhaps offering a discount. If you are done automating, push through.
Confirm Cancellation
Confirm your decision. Your Pro features remain active until the end of your billing period. After that, you drop to the free tier and most of your applets will stop running. Choose your 2 keepers wisely.
Your Applets Will Stop Running
This is the big one: the free IFTTT plan only allows 2 active applets. All other applets will be paused and stop executing. If you rely on IFTTT for important automations (like smart home routines, social media posting, or data syncing), set up alternatives before canceling. Multi-step applets that chain multiple actions together are Pro-only and will be completely disabled.
Cancel IFTTT via App Store or Google Play
If you subscribed through your phone's app store, that is where you need to cancel.
Apple App Store
- 1. Open Settings on your iPhone
- 2. Tap your name at the top
- 3. Tap Subscriptions
- 4. Find and tap IFTTT
- 5. Tap Cancel Subscription
Google Play Store
- 1. Open the Google Play Store app
- 2. Tap your profile icon
- 3. Tap Payments & subscriptions
- 4. Tap Subscriptions
- 5. Find IFTTT and tap Cancel
What Happens After You Cancel IFTTT?
Only 2 applets stay active
The free tier allows just 2 active applets. IFTTT will ask you to choose which 2 to keep when your Pro expires. All others get paused and stop running immediately. Pick the ones you really cannot live without.
Multi-step applets disabled
Multi-action applets (ones that trigger multiple things from a single event) are a Pro-only feature. These get completely disabled on the free plan -- not just paused, but unavailable. Simple if-this-then-that applets still work.
Service connections remain
Good news: your connected services (Google, Spotify, smart home devices, etc.) stay linked to your account. If you resubscribe later, you will not need to reconnect everything from scratch. The connections just sit idle.
Queries and filters stop working
Pro features like filter code, queries, and faster polling rates are disabled. Free applets check for triggers less frequently (about once per hour instead of every few minutes), so any remaining applets will be slower to react.
Alternatives to IFTTT
Make (Integromat)
More powerful automation builder with visual workflows. Free tier with 1,000 operations per month.
Zapier
The industry standard for app automations. More integrations than IFTTT but pricier. Free tier with 100 tasks/month.
n8n
Open-source automation tool you can self-host for free. Powerful but requires technical setup. Cloud option available too.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens to my applets after canceling?
You get to keep 2 active applets on the free plan. All others are paused and stop executing. Multi-step applets are disabled entirely since they require Pro. IFTTT will prompt you to choose which 2 applets to keep active when your subscription ends.
Can I get a refund from IFTTT?
IFTTT generally does not offer refunds for subscription payments. If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, you can try requesting a refund through those platforms within their respective refund windows. For direct subscriptions, contact IFTTT support.
Will my smart home automations stop?
If your smart home automations run through IFTTT applets that exceed the free 2-applet limit, yes -- they will stop. Consider moving critical smart home automations to your smart home hub's built-in automation (like HomeKit, Google Home routines, or Alexa routines) before canceling.
What is the difference between Pro and Pro+?
IFTTT Pro ($3.49/mo) gives you up to 20 applets with multi-step capability, filter code, and queries. Pro+ ($14.99/mo) offers unlimited applets, faster polling, and priority support. Both drop to the same 2-applet free tier when canceled.
Are my service connections removed when I cancel?
No. Your connected services stay linked to your IFTTT account. The applets just stop running. If you resubscribe later, all your connections are still there and you can reactivate your paused applets without reconnecting every service from scratch.
