Go to your Max subscription page
Open your web browser and navigate to HBOMax.com/subscription. Sign in with the account you want to cancel. Make sure you are logged into the account owner's profile.
Click Cancel Your Subscription
On the subscription management page, locate and click Cancel Your Subscription. Max may present retention offers or ask you to switch to a cheaper plan first.
Follow the prompts
You may be asked to select a reason for canceling. Work through the on-screen prompts. Decline any retention offers if you want to proceed with cancellation.

Your profiles and history are retained
Max keeps your profiles, watch history, and My List saved after cancellation. If you decide to resubscribe later, your data will be waiting for you.
No refunds (strict policy)
Max does not provide refunds for partial billing periods. Even if you cancel immediately after being charged, you will not receive a refund for the remaining days.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find who bills me for Max?
Go to HBOMax.com/subscription and sign in. The page will display your billing provider (e.g., WarnerMedia, Apple, Google, Amazon, Roku, etc.). Alternatively, check your bank or credit card statement to see who is charging you for Max.
Is Max the same as HBO Max?
Yes. HBO Max was rebranded to Max in 2023 by Warner Bros. Discovery. Your account, login credentials, billing, and content library all carried over automatically. The cancellation process is the same regardless of which name you originally signed up under.
Can I cancel Max through the app?
Only if you are a direct subscriber billed by WarnerMedia. If you subscribed through Apple, Google, Amazon, Roku, Samsung, or a cable/TV provider, the Max app and website will not show a cancel option. You must cancel through the platform that manages your billing.
Will I get a refund if I cancel Max?
No. Max has a strict no-refund policy. Your access continues until the end of the billing period you already paid for, but you will not receive money back for any remaining days.
Can I resubscribe to Max after canceling?
Yes. You can resubscribe at any time by visiting the Max website or app and choosing a plan. Your previous profiles and viewing history should still be available when you come back.
