Method 1: Cancel via Google Home
Open Google Home app or website
Go to home.google.com in your browser or open the Google Home app on your phone. Sign in with the Google account linked to your Nest devices. Make sure you are using the account that owns the subscription, not a shared household member account.
Navigate to Settings
In the Google Home app, tap Settings (gear icon). Look for Nest Aware or Subscriptions. On the web, go to your account settings and find the subscription management area.
Cancel your Nest Aware plan
Tap or click Cancel Subscription next to your Nest Aware plan. Google may present retention offers or explain what you will lose. Confirm your cancellation. Your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period.
Save your confirmation
Check for a confirmation email from Google. Verify the cancellation in your Google Home app under Settings. Your cameras continue to provide live viewing but will stop recording video history once the plan expires.
Method 2: Cancel via Google Play / App Store
Check your subscription source
If you subscribed through Google Play or the Apple App Store, you need to cancel there. Android: Open Google Play > Profile > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions. iPhone: Settings > Your Name > Subscriptions.
Find and cancel Nest Aware
Locate Nest Aware in your subscriptions list and tap Cancel. Confirm when prompted. This is the only way to stop billing if you originally subscribed through an app store.

Nest Aware ($6/mo) stores 30 days of event video history. Nest Aware Plus ($12/mo) adds 60 days of event history plus 10 days of 24/7 continuous recording. If you mainly want event clips, downgrading to the basic plan might save you money without losing what matters most.
What Happens After You Cancel Nest Aware?
Live streaming continues
Your Nest cameras and doorbells continue to stream live video. You can still check in on your home in real-time through the Google Home app. The cameras themselves are not affected.
Video history disappears
After your plan expires, you lose access to recorded video history. No more event clips, no more 24/7 recording. Three hours of event-based video snapshots may still be available for free on some newer Nest cameras.
Smart alerts stop
Features like familiar face detection, package detection, and animal/vehicle alerts require Nest Aware. Without it, you only get basic motion and person alerts on compatible cameras.
Easy to resubscribe
If you decide you want recording back, resubscribing is instant through the Google Home app. Your cameras start recording again immediately. No hardware changes needed.

Can I get a refund from Google for Nest Aware?
Google may offer refunds if you contact Google support shortly after being charged. Go to support.google.com/googlenest for help. Annual subscribers have a better chance of getting a pro-rated refund. Monthly plans typically are not refunded.
Do Nest cameras work without Nest Aware?
Yes. Your cameras still provide live streaming, two-way audio, and basic motion alerts. You just lose cloud video recording, intelligent alerts, and video history. Some newer Nest cameras offer limited free event recording.
What happens to my saved video history?
Once your Nest Aware subscription expires, your video history is deleted after a grace period. Download any important clips before your plan ends. Google does not preserve video history for canceled accounts.
Can I share Nest Aware across multiple homes?
Yes, Nest Aware covers all cameras in your Google Home. If you have cameras in multiple locations linked to the same Google account, one subscription covers them all. This makes it more cost-effective than per-camera plans.
