Method 1: Cancel in the Rocket Money App

1

Open the Rocket Money app

Launch the Rocket Money app on your phone. Tap on Settings (usually a gear icon in the corner). You need to be logged into the account that has the Premium subscription.

2

Navigate to Premium settings

Tap Premium, Subscription, or Manage Membership. This shows your current Premium plan, what you pay, and when your next billing date is.

3

Cancel your Premium subscription

Tap Cancel Premium or Cancel Subscription. If the app directs you to your device's app store, follow the link to complete cancellation there. Rocket Money may offer a cheaper rate or remind you of money they have saved you -- decline if you want out.

4

Confirm via App Store or Google Play

iPhone: Settings > Your Name > Subscriptions > Rocket Money > Cancel. Android: Google Play > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions > Rocket Money > Cancel. Make sure the cancellation is confirmed before closing.

Method 2: Cancel on the Rocket Money Website

1

Log in to rocketmoney.com

Go to rocketmoney.com and sign in with your account. Navigate to Settings or Account and find your subscription management page.

2

Cancel Premium

Click Cancel Premium and confirm. If you subscribed through the website, this is the correct place to cancel. If you subscribed through an app store, the website will redirect you there.

Pro Tip: The Free Version Still Tracks Subscriptions

Rocket Money's free tier still lets you see your subscriptions and recurring charges (if you connected your bank). You mainly lose the bill negotiation service, smart savings, credit score monitoring, and custom budget categories. For basic subscription tracking, the free version works fine -- or try Subcut, which does not require a bank connection.

What Happens After You Cancel Rocket Money Premium?

Free features keep working

Your Rocket Money account stays active with free features including basic subscription tracking, spending insights, and linked account monitoring. You do not lose your account data.

Bill negotiation stops

Rocket Money's bill negotiation service (where they call your providers to lower your bills) is Premium-only. Any active negotiations continue, but you cannot start new ones on the free tier.

Smart Savings pauses

If you were using Rocket Money's automatic savings feature, it pauses when Premium ends. Make sure to transfer any money from your Rocket Money savings back to your bank if needed.

Bank connections remain

Your linked bank accounts stay connected on the free tier. You can still see transactions and basic spending data. Premium analytics and custom categories are removed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get a refund from Rocket Money?

Refunds are handled by your app store. Apple users can request refunds at reportaproblem.apple.com. Google Play users can go to play.google.com/store/account. If you subscribed directly, contact Rocket Money support. Refund chances are better the sooner you request after being charged.

Does Rocket Money keep my bank data after canceling?

Your bank connections remain active on the free tier unless you manually disconnect them. If you want to fully remove your financial data, go to Settings and disconnect your bank accounts, then request data deletion if desired.

What is the difference between Rocket Money free and Premium?

Free includes basic subscription tracking, spending overview, and linked accounts. Premium adds bill negotiation, smart savings, custom categories, credit score monitoring, and cancellation concierge. Prices vary from $4-12/month depending on what you choose to pay.

Is Rocket Money safe to use?

Rocket Money uses bank-level encryption and is owned by Rocket Companies (the same parent as Rocket Mortgage). Your data is encrypted and they use read-only bank connections. However, if you are uncomfortable sharing bank data, alternatives like Subcut track subscriptions without needing a bank connection.

Track Rocket Money & All Your
Subscriptions in One App

Subcut reminds you before charges hit, tracks every billing date, and gives you one-tap access to cancellation guides. No bank connection needed.
