How to Cancel Your
Wired Subscription

Spending ~$5/month to read about tech you cannot afford? Whether you subscribed to Wired online, through the app, or somehow still get a print copy, here is how to unplug without any drama.

Method 1: Cancel on the Wired Website

1

Log in to your Wired account

Go to wired.com and click Sign In. Use the email and password from your subscription. Wired uses the Conde Nast account system, so your login might be the same one you use for The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, or other Conde Nast publications.

2

Open your Conde Nast subscription dashboard

Click your profile icon and select Account. This opens the Conde Nast account dashboard -- the same portal that manages Wired, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, and every other Conde Nast title. Find your Wired subscription in the list of active plans.

3

Click Cancel Subscription

Find the Cancel link next to your Wired subscription. Conde Nast may offer a discount or alternative plan. If you want out, decline any offers and click through to the final cancellation confirmation. It only takes a couple of extra clicks.

4

Save your confirmation

You should get a confirmation email from Conde Nast. Screenshot it and save it. If no email arrives, log back in and check that your Wired subscription shows as canceled or expired in your account settings.

Method 2: Cancel via App Store / Google Play

1

Open your device settings

iPhone/iPad: Go to Settings > tap your name > Subscriptions. Android: Open Google Play Store > tap your profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions. Find Wired in your active subscriptions list.

2

Tap Cancel Subscription

Select Wired from the list and tap Cancel Subscription. Confirm when prompted. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period. This is the only way to cancel if you originally subscribed through an app store.

Pro Tip: Know Where You Subscribed

The number one reason people think they cannot cancel is they are trying to cancel on the wrong platform. If you subscribed via the App Store, the Wired website cannot cancel it (and vice versa). Check your Apple or Google subscription receipts to figure out where the charge originates.

What Happens After You Cancel Wired?

Access continues until your period ends

You keep full access to Wired articles and the app until the end of your current billing cycle. No content gets pulled immediately.

Free articles still available

After your subscription lapses, you can still read a limited number of free Wired articles each month. Your account stays active with all your preferences saved.

Print issues stop after your term

If you had a print subscription, physical magazines stop arriving once your paid period ends. You may receive one or two more issues that were already in the mail pipeline.

Look for comeback deals

Conde Nast often sends discounted re-subscription offers after you cancel. At only ~$5/month to begin with, the comeback deal might be absurdly cheap. Keep an eye on your email if you are on the fence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get a refund from Wired?

Annual subscribers may be eligible for a partial refund on unused months. Monthly subscribers generally do not receive refunds for the current period. Contact Conde Nast customer service to ask about your specific situation.

Does canceling Wired affect my other Conde Nast subscriptions?

No. Each Conde Nast publication has its own separate subscription. Canceling Wired does not touch your New Yorker, Vanity Fair, GQ, or any other Conde Nast magazine subscriptions. Each one needs to be managed independently.

How do I cancel if I subscribed through Amazon?

If you subscribed to Wired through Amazon, go to Amazon.com, click Account & Lists, then Memberships & Subscriptions. Find Wired in the list and click Cancel Subscription. The Wired website cannot cancel Amazon-managed subscriptions.

Can I keep my Wired account after canceling?

Yes, your Conde Nast account stays active after canceling. You can log in, access free articles, and resubscribe at any time. Your saved preferences, reading history, and newsletter subscriptions are all preserved.

Is there a free version of Wired?

Wired offers a limited number of free articles per month. If you only read Wired occasionally, this free tier might be all you need. For heavy readers, the subscription removes the paywall entirely and includes the print magazine if you opt for that plan.
