How to Cancel Your
Zwift Membership

Time to hop off the virtual bike and ride outside for a while? Canceling Zwift is refreshingly straightforward — and the best part is all your ride data stays saved for when you inevitably come back during the next rainy season.

Data

Preserved

Your ride data, level, and achievements are all preserved!

Unlike some subscriptions that hold your data hostage, Zwift keeps everything safe after you cancel. Your ride history, level progress, route badges, and training data will all be waiting for you if you decide to come back. Zwift is very cyclist-friendly about this.

Method 1: Cancel via Zwift Website

1

Go to my.zwift.com and log in

Open your browser and navigate to my.zwift.com. Sign in with your Zwift email and password. This is Zwift's account management portal where you handle billing and membership.

2

Navigate to My Account

Once logged in, go to My Account or click on your profile. Look for the Membership or Subscription section that shows your current plan and next billing date.

3

Click "Cancel Membership"

Click Cancel Membership or Cancel Subscription. Zwift will ask for a reason and may show what you'll lose access to. They might offer a temporary pause or discounted rate.

4

Confirm cancellation

Confirm your cancellation. You'll continue to have access until the end of your current billing period. Zwift will send a confirmation email — save it for your records. Your account, data, and progress remain intact.

Method 2: Cancel via Apple App Store (iOS)

If you subscribed through the Apple App Store on your iPhone or iPad, cancel here.

1

iPhone: Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions

Open Settings, tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions. Find Zwift and tap Cancel Subscription.

2

Confirm and done

Confirm the cancellation when prompted. Your Zwift access continues until the end of the current billing period. All your ride data is preserved in your Zwift account.

What Happens After You Cancel Zwift?

All your ride data is preserved

Zwift keeps your complete ride history, including distance, elevation, power data, achievements, route badges, and XP level. When you resubscribe, it's like you never left — minus the fitness you lost on the couch.

Strava and third-party syncs still have your data

If you had Zwift connected to Strava, TrainingPeaks, or other platforms, all your previously synced rides remain there. Only new rides stop syncing (because you can't do new rides without a membership).

You can't ride or race without a membership

Once your billing period ends, you lose access to all Zwift worlds, routes, workouts, group rides, and races. Your smart trainer still works — just not with Zwift. Other free alternatives like RGT Cycling might tide you over.

Seasonal cancelers are totally normal

Many Zwift users subscribe only during winter months and cancel when the weather gets nice. Zwift is fully designed for this pattern — your data, level, and gear unlocks will be waiting for you next season.

Before You Cancel: Alternatives to Consider

Seasonal Approach

Cancel for summer, resubscribe for winter. This is the most popular Zwift strategy and saves you 5-6 months of charges per year. Your data is always preserved.

Try Free Alternatives

RGT Cycling (now owned by Wahoo) and some basic trainer apps offer free indoor riding. They're not as feature-rich as Zwift, but they keep your legs spinning.

Ride Outside

Novel concept, we know. But if weather permits, outdoor cycling is free (after the bike, kit, helmet, shoes, and inevitable N+1 purchases). Fresh air included at no extra charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my Zwift data saved after I cancel?

Yes, completely. Zwift preserves all your ride data, achievements, XP level, route badges, workout history, and any gear or kit unlocks. Your Zwift profile stays intact. When you resubscribe, everything picks up exactly where you left off. This makes Zwift very friendly for seasonal users.

How much does Zwift cost per month?

Zwift costs $14.99 per month. There's no annual plan or discounted rate — everyone pays the same monthly price. All members get full access to every world, route, workout plan, event, and race. No tiers, no upsells.

Can I use my smart trainer without Zwift?

Absolutely. Your smart trainer is a standalone piece of hardware. Without Zwift, you can still use it with other apps (some free), or just ride it in ERG mode without any app at all. Zwift doesn't lock your trainer — it just provides the virtual world to ride in.

Will I get a refund when I cancel Zwift?

Zwift does not offer prorated refunds. You keep full access until the end of the current billing period you've paid for. If you subscribed through the Apple App Store, Apple's refund policy applies separately.

Do people really cancel Zwift every summer?

It's extremely common. Zwift's user base sees a predictable seasonal pattern where many users cancel in spring/summer and resubscribe in fall/winter. Zwift is fully aware of this and has built their platform to accommodate seasonal users. There's no penalty or loss of data for doing this.
