How to actually cancel Adda247 in 2026 (and where the refund really lives)
Adda247 has no cancel button anywhere in its app or website, and its official support article titled "I want to cancel my subscription" contains exactly zero cancellation steps. That is not an oversight. The cancel actually lives somewhere else, and so does the refund.
Before you start
If you are reading this because you got charged unexpectedly, do not start by emailing Adda247 support. Start by figuring out which billing channel debited you, because that is where the cancel actually has to happen. Adda247's own dashboard cannot stop the charge.
Adda247 carries a 33% complaint resolution rate and a 1.8 of 5 average across 169 reviews on PissedConsumer. Going in unprepared is how you become the 67% that does not get resolved.
The pattern, named
Adda247 sells government-exam prep to one of the most price-sensitive subscriber bases on the internet: students preparing for SSC, banking, railways, defence, and teaching exams across India. The product catalogue is built almost entirely around one-time course and test-pack purchases (Bank Mahapack, SSC Mahapack, Defence Test Pack, and so on) with time-limited access windows of 1, 3, 6, or 12 months. There is no recurring billing for most of these. The "cancel" that users want is, in practice, a refund.
Adda247's refund policy handles this with one line. The exact language: "All purchases made on Adda247 including but not limited to Live Classes, Video Courses, Test Series, Ebooks, Books, MahaPacks, and Degree Programs are considered final and non-refundable." The only formal escape hatch is a one-time batch change to a course of equivalent value within 7 days of purchase. That is the entire user-facing refund policy.
Then there is Test Prime, the annual recurring subscription Adda247 launched in 2024 to package multiple exam categories together. Test Prime auto-renews. Test Prime is also where the cancel question gets actively hostile, because Test Prime is often billed through Google Play (Android) or paid via UPI AutoPay through Razorpay, and Adda247's own site explains how to cancel exactly none of those. The Freshdesk support article literally titled "I want to cancel my subscription" links you to the refund page and stops. There is no list of steps. There is no Settings path. There is no link to Google Play. There is no mention of UPI mandates. This is a dark pattern by omission, and it is the central feature of the Adda247 cancel experience.
None of this is unique to Adda247. Indian edtech has been here before. Byju's and Vedantu have both faced district-commission orders to refund students under the Consumer Protection Act 2019. The legal framework exists. Adda247 simply bets that most users will not use it. This page is about not being most users.
Step zero: figure out who is actually charging you
Open your bank statement, your UPI app's transaction history, or your Google Play purchase history. Match the Adda247 charge to one of these channels. The channel determines everything that follows.
| Charge appears as | Billing channel | Where the cancel lives |
|---|---|---|
| Google or Google Play, INR | Google Play (Android Test Prime) | Google Play app, Subscriptions |
| Apple or iTunes, INR | Apple IAP (iOS Test Prime) | iPhone Settings, Subscriptions |
| Razorpay or RZPY, recurring | UPI AutoPay e-mandate | Your UPI app, Manage Mandates |
| ADDA247, one-time, large amount | Direct card or netbanking | Refund request only (no recurring) |
If your charge is one-time (a Mahapack or Test Pack bought outright), you do not have anything to cancel. You have a refund to chase. Skip to the escalation section.
The cancel routes, in order of what actually works
Google Play: the only fast cancel Adda247 cannot block
Open the Google Play app on the same Android device you bought Test Prime on. Tap your profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Find Adda247 in the list, tap it, then tap Cancel subscription. You will keep access until the end of the current billing period. Google's own help page confirms this is the canonical path. Once the subscription is cancelled in Play, Adda247 cannot re-bill you regardless of what their support says.
Apple: same idea, different settings panel
On iOS, go to Settings, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions. Tap Adda247 and choose Cancel Subscription. Apple does not need Adda247's permission either. If you bought Test Prime on iOS within the last 90 days and feel the service was not delivered as described, you can also use the Apple Report a Problem flow at reportaproblem.apple.com to request a refund. Apple grants these more often than people expect.
UPI AutoPay: revoke the mandate inside your UPI app
This is the one Adda247 will never explain. If you paid via UPI AutoPay through Razorpay, the recurring authorisation is a mandate stored inside your UPI app, not inside Adda247. Open the UPI app you used at checkout: PhonePe, Google Pay, BHIM, or Paytm. Look for Autopay, Manage Mandates, or Mandates in the menu. Find the Adda247 or Razorpay entry. Tap Cancel or Revoke. The next scheduled debit will fail. Razorpay's own guide to cancelling an e-mandate walks through the screens for each UPI app and bank.
Adda247 support: the formal request that they will probably deny
Email [email protected] with your order ID, the date of purchase, the amount, and a clear written request for cancellation and refund. Call +91 9266728247 between 9 AM and 9 PM IST. Phrase it in writing so you have a paper trail: "I am requesting cancellation of order ID [X] and a full refund. Please confirm receipt and respond within 7 working days." Expect a templated reply citing the no-refund policy. That denial is fine. You are not trying to win at this stage. You are creating evidence for the escalation steps.
Escalate to the Adda247 Grievance Officer
India's Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules 2020 require every e-commerce entity, Adda247 included, to appoint a Grievance Officer whose name, designation, and contact must be published on the platform, and who must acknowledge a complaint within 48 hours and resolve it within one month. Search the Adda247 site footer or the Terms of Use page for "Grievance Officer." Email them, copy [email protected], and explicitly reference the E-Commerce Rules 2020 and Consumer Protection Act 2019. This frames the conversation as legal, not customer service, which changes who reads it.
What Adda247 support will say, and what you say back
Adda247 does not run a phone-retention call the way SiriusXM does. There is no offer ladder. There is a script, and the script is denial. Across PissedConsumer, Voxya, and MouthShut, the same four lines show up over and over. Here is what to expect and the exact response that puts the conversation back on legal footing.
They say
"As per our policy, all digital purchases are final and non-refundable."
You say
"Adda247's blanket no-refund policy does not override the Consumer Protection Act 2019. Section 2(11) defines deficiency in service, and Section 2(47) covers unfair trade practice. Please escalate this to your Grievance Officer per the E-Commerce Rules 2020."
They say
"Once a purchase is made, it is processed immediately and access is granted, so a refund is not possible."
You say
"I am not disputing access. I am disputing [failed access / wrong product / unauthorised renewal]. Please document this complaint and assign a ticket number. I will be filing with the National Consumer Helpline if it is not resolved within the 30-day window."
They say
"You can request a one-time batch change to a course of equivalent value within 7 days of purchase."
You say
"A batch change is not equivalent to a refund. I do not want a different product. Please escalate this request to your Grievance Officer."
They say (or never reply)
Silence. No reply for 7, 14, 30 days.
You do
Treat the silence as a denial. File at consumerhelpline.gov.in (NCH 1915) and screenshot your unanswered emails. The lack of response is itself documentary evidence of deficiency in service under the Act.
India recovery routes (the part Adda247 hopes you skip)
India has a real consumer-protection framework. Most users never use it because they do not know it exists. Adda247 is counting on that. Here is the actual playbook.
National Consumer Helpline (NCH) 1915
Call 1915 or file at consumerhelpline.gov.in. The helpline registers your complaint in the INGRAM database, sends it to Adda247 with a tracking number, and gives the company a window to respond. NCH does not award refunds itself, but companies often resolve at this stage because the next step is a formal commission filing with a paper record. Free to file. Most complaints resolve in 15 to 30 days.
e-Daakhil: online consumer commission filing
If NCH does not resolve, file at edaakhil.nic.in, the official online portal of the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission. Register, file a complaint under the Consumer Protection Act 2019, attach your evidence (Adda247 denial emails, payment proof, screenshots of the support article that does not contain cancel steps), and pay a small filing fee. District commissions can hear claims up to one crore rupees. Indian consumer courts have ordered edtech refunds repeatedly since 2022. JuriGram's overview of e-commerce refund rights under the Act is a clear walkthrough.
RBI AutoPay dispute (UPI-specific)
If a UPI AutoPay mandate debited you after you revoked it, that is an RBI-jurisdiction matter. Raise a dispute with your bank citing unauthorised UPI mandate execution. Banks are bound by RBI's UPI framework to investigate within a defined window. Keep the revocation timestamp from your UPI app. This route is fast when it applies.
Card chargeback (if you paid by card)
For direct card payments, raise a dispute with the bank that issued the card under Visa or Mastercard chargeback rules. Cite non-delivery of services, deficiency in service, or unauthorised renewal. You typically have 120 days from the transaction date. Card chargebacks bypass Adda247 entirely. The bank investigates and either reverses the charge or asks Adda247 to respond, which they often do not.
Verify it actually stuck
Adda247 will not always email you a cancellation confirmation, and even when they do, the wording can be ambiguous. Verify on three surfaces.
- The billing channel. Re-open Google Play or Apple Subscriptions and confirm Adda247 shows as "Cancelled" or moves to "Expired" status with an end date.
- Your UPI app. Re-open Manage Mandates and confirm the Adda247 or Razorpay entry no longer appears, or shows as Revoked.
- Your next statement. Check the next 35 days of card or bank statements for any Adda247 or Razorpay debit. If one appears after cancellation, that is your trigger to raise an immediate chargeback or RBI dispute. Do not wait three months hoping the next one will be the last.
Five gotchas worth knowing before you start
1. "Course expired immediately on delivery"
Multiple PissedConsumer reviewers describe buying a Mahapack and seeing zero days remaining on first login. Adda247 support typically refuses replacement, citing "access already granted." Document the timestamp screenshots and file under deficiency in service.
2. The 7-day batch-change clock starts at purchase, not first use
If you bought a course on day one and did not open it until day eight because life happened, the only formal out is already closed. Open the course immediately after purchase even if you have no intention of starting, just to verify access works.
3. Cancelling in Play Store does nothing inside Adda247
And vice versa. The two systems do not talk. If you tell Adda247 support to cancel but you bought via Play, the Play subscription will keep renewing. Cancel both surfaces.
4. Terms of Use let Adda247 terminate your access at any time
The Adda247 Terms of Use include a clause allowing Adda247 to "block, restrict, disable, suspend or terminate" access at its sole discretion without notice. If that happens to a course you paid for, that is unambiguous deficiency in service and you have a clear case to file.
5. The 500% Refund on Selection is a marketing line, not a cancel path
Test Prime advertises 500% of purchase price returned if you clear a covered exam. The fine print: claim within 3 days of result announcement, full documentation, processed in 7 to 10 working days, Adda247 reserves the right to withdraw the offer. Real for the people it applies to. Irrelevant for the people trying to cancel.
Same pattern, different brand
India's hostile-cancel playbook is recognisable across edtech and audio. If Adda247 charged you, there is a decent chance one of these did too.
Questions Adda247 users actually ask
Where is the cancel button in my Adda247 account?
There is none. The Adda247 website and app have no self-serve cancel control, and the Freshdesk article called "I want to cancel my subscription" contains zero actual steps. The cancel for auto-renewing Test Prime has to happen in Google Play, Apple, or your UPI app. For one-time Mahapack purchases there is nothing to cancel, only a refund to pursue.
Can I actually get a refund from Adda247?
By Adda247's stated policy, no. By India's Consumer Protection Act 2019, sometimes yes. Users have recovered refunds via Google Play disputes, Apple Report a Problem, UPI mandate disputes raised under RBI's framework, and consumer-commission filings via e-Daakhil. The 33% complaint resolution rate on PissedConsumer is grim, but the legal routes work when used.
Adda247 charged me after I cancelled. Can I do a chargeback?
Yes. For card payments, raise a dispute with your issuing bank under Visa or Mastercard chargeback rules within 120 days. For UPI AutoPay, raise a mandate dispute with your bank citing unauthorised debit after revocation. Both routes bypass Adda247 entirely. Keep screenshots of your revocation and any "your subscription is cancelled" confirmations.
How do I cancel a UPI AutoPay mandate for Adda247?
Open the UPI app you used (PhonePe, Google Pay, BHIM, Paytm). Go to Autopay or Manage Mandates. Find the Adda247 or Razorpay entry and tap Cancel or Revoke. The next scheduled debit will fail. The mandate lives in your UPI app, which is why Adda247 itself does not explain this.
Will filing with e-Daakhil or consumer court actually work?
For documented deficiency in service, yes. Indian consumer commissions have ordered refunds against multiple edtech companies, including Byju's and Vedantu, between 2022 and 2024. Adda247's blanket no-refund policy does not override the Act. Most cases settle once Adda247 receives the formal notice from a commission, because contesting a small-ticket consumer matter is more expensive than refunding it.
The same playbook is running on the other apps you pay for.
Adda247 hides the cancel inside other people's billing surfaces. So do Pocket FM, Hotstar, and half the apps on your phone. Subcut spots the renewals before they hit, so you decide ahead of time instead of fighting a support agent after the charge clears.
