What Happens After You Cancel Affinity?

One-time purchases remain yours forever

If you bought Affinity V2 with a one-time license, the apps are yours to keep and use indefinitely. Canceling only applies to recurring subscriptions like the Universal License.

Universal License access ends at billing period

If you cancel the Universal License subscription, you can continue using all Affinity apps until the end of your current billing period. After that, you lose access to the apps.

Your files remain accessible

Your .afdesign, .afphoto, and .afpub files stay on your computer. You can still open them if you resubscribe later or purchase a one-time license.

Consider switching to a one-time license

If you only need specific Affinity apps, you can purchase individual one-time licenses for Photo, Designer, or Publisher instead of maintaining a subscription.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Affinity a subscription or a one-time purchase?

Affinity offers both models. You can buy individual apps (Photo, Designer, Publisher) with a one-time license, or subscribe to the Universal License which includes all apps and future updates on all platforms.

Can I get a refund for Affinity?

Yes. Serif offers a 14-day refund policy for purchases made through their store. For purchases through the Apple App Store or Mac App Store, you need to request a refund directly from Apple.

Will I lose my Affinity files after canceling?

No. Your Affinity files remain on your computer regardless of your subscription status. However, you will need an active license or subscription to open and edit them in the Affinity apps.

What is the difference between Affinity V2 and Universal License?

Affinity V2 refers to the one-time purchase version of individual apps. The Universal License is a subscription that gives you access to all Affinity apps across all platforms with ongoing updates included.

Can I still use Affinity V2 if I bought it outright?

Yes. If you purchased a one-time V2 license, it is yours to use forever. You will receive minor updates (e.g., 2.x) but may need to purchase a new license for future major versions.
