Cancel Figma on the Website

1

Export your files first (recommended)

Before downgrading, export important design files. Open each file in Figma, go to File > Export and save as .fig, PDF, or PNG. The free plan limits you to 3 Figma files per team, so files beyond that become view-only.

2

Log in and go to Team Settings

Go to figma.com and log in with the account that has admin privileges. In the left sidebar, click on the Team name you want to downgrade. Then click Admin in the sidebar and select the Settings tab.

3

Navigate to Plan and Billing

On the Settings page, scroll to the Plan section. Here you will see your current plan (Professional or Organization), the number of editors, and your billing cycle. Click Change plan or Downgrade.

4

Select Starter (Free) Plan

Choose the Starter (Free) plan. Figma will show you what features you will lose and what limitations apply. Review the details carefully.

5

Confirm the Downgrade

Follow the confirmation prompts and click Confirm to finalize the downgrade. Your paid features remain active until the end of your current billing period, then your team switches to the free Starter plan.

Annual plan? If you are on an annual plan, Figma requires at least 30 days notice before the end of your term. Contact [email protected] to arrange cancellation of annual plans. Monthly plans can be downgraded at any time through the settings page.

What Happens After You Cancel Figma?

Your files are not deleted

Figma does not delete your design files when you downgrade. However, the free Starter plan limits you to 3 Figma files and 3 FigJam files per team. Any files beyond this limit become view-only until you reduce the count or upgrade again.

Paid features stop at billing period end

You retain access to all Professional plan features until the end of your current billing period. After that, your team transitions to the Starter plan with its limitations on projects, version history, and team libraries.

Team libraries become unavailable

Shared team libraries, which allow you to publish and reuse components and styles across files, are a paid feature. On the free plan, existing component instances in your files remain, but you can no longer publish or update shared libraries.

Version history is limited to 30 days

The free plan limits version history to 30 days, compared to unlimited history on paid plans. After downgrading, you will only be able to access versions from the last 30 days for each file.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can any team member cancel a Figma subscription?

No. Only team admins can access billing and plan settings. If you are an editor or viewer on the team, you need to contact your team admin to request a downgrade. For Organization plans, only the Organization admin can make billing changes.

Will I lose my Figma files if I downgrade?

Your files are not deleted. However, the free Starter plan limits you to 3 Figma files and 3 FigJam files per team. Files beyond this limit become view-only. You can still view and export them, but you cannot edit them until you either delete files to get under the limit or upgrade again.

Does Figma offer refunds for annual plans?

Annual plans require at least 30 days notice before the end of your term. Contact Figma support at [email protected] to discuss cancellation and any potential credit. Monthly plans can be downgraded at any time, and your access continues until the end of the billing period.

Can I cancel a personal Figma Professional plan?

Yes. If you have a personal Professional plan (not a team plan), go to your account settings at figma.com/settings, find the billing section, and downgrade to the free Starter plan from there.

What happens to my plugins after canceling?

Community plugins from the Figma plugin library remain available on the free plan. However, any team-specific or Organization-level plugins may become inaccessible depending on how they were configured.
