Cancel Dropbox on the Website
Sign in to Dropbox
Go to dropbox.com in your web browser and sign in with the account you want to cancel. Make sure you are logging in with the correct email address, especially if you have multiple Dropbox accounts.
Open your Account Settings
Click your avatar (profile picture or initials) in the bottom-left corner of the Dropbox interface. From the menu that appears, click Manage account. This takes you to the account settings page where your plan details are displayed.
Click Cancel Plan
Scroll down to the bottom of the account settings page. You will see a Cancel plan option. Click it. Dropbox may present retention offers such as a discounted rate or a plan downgrade before proceeding.
Select a reason for canceling
Dropbox will ask you to select a reason for leaving. Choose the option that best applies and click Continue canceling.
Confirm the cancellation
Click Confirm change on the final screen. Your paid plan will remain active until the end of your current billing cycle. After that, your account automatically downgrades to Dropbox Basic (free, 2 GB storage). You will receive a confirmation email.
Cancel Dropbox Business (Admin)
Sign in as an admin
Go to dropbox.com and sign in with your Dropbox Business admin credentials. Only team admins have the permission to cancel a Business subscription.
Open Admin Console and Billing
Navigate to the Admin Console, then select Billing. Click Manage subscriptions to see your current plan details.
Cancel your plan
At the bottom of the Manage subscriptions page, click the "You can also cancel your plan" text link. Confirm the cancellation. Your Business plan converts to a free team plan at the end of the billing cycle, preserving your team's files.
Subscribed Through Apple or Google?
If you subscribed to Dropbox through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, you need to cancel through those platforms. Canceling on the Dropbox website will not stop billing from Apple or Google.

What Happens After You Cancel Dropbox?
Your files are not deleted
Canceling Dropbox does not delete your files. All files and folders remain in your account and are accessible through dropbox.com. However, your account downgrades to Dropbox Basic at the end of your billing cycle, which comes with only 2 GB of storage.
Syncing stops if you exceed 2 GB
If your stored files exceed the 2 GB Basic limit, Dropbox will stop syncing files to your devices. Your files remain on the Dropbox servers, but new changes will not sync between your devices until you reduce your storage usage or resubscribe.
You lose premium features
Features like Smart Sync, extended version history (180 days or 1 year), remote device wipe, full-text search, and priority support are no longer available. Basic accounts retain 30-day version history and recovery.
Download your files before downgrading
If you have more than 2 GB of data, consider downloading your important files to your local computer before the downgrade takes effect. You can use the Dropbox desktop app to sync everything locally, or download files manually from dropbox.com.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get a refund for Dropbox?
Dropbox generally does not issue refunds. However, if you are in the EU, UK, or Turkey, you may be eligible for a refund within 14 days of purchase under consumer protection laws. Contact Dropbox support to request one. For subscriptions purchased through Apple or Google, you must request a refund from those platforms.
Will I lose my files if I cancel?
No. Your files are never deleted just because you cancel your paid plan. They remain in your Dropbox account. The only change is that your storage limit drops to 2 GB (Basic plan). If you already have more than 2 GB stored, the files stay put but syncing stops until you free up space or resubscribe.
How do I cancel Dropbox Business as an admin?
Sign in with your admin account, go to Admin Console, select Billing, then Manage subscriptions. At the bottom of the page, click the "You can also cancel your plan" link. The team transitions to a free plan at the end of the billing cycle. Only admins can perform this action.
What happens to shared folders after I cancel?
Shared folders continue to work normally for other members. Your contributions remain accessible. However, if you exceed the 2 GB storage limit after downgrading, new files you add may not sync properly. Other team members are unaffected by your individual cancellation.
Can I resubscribe after canceling?
Yes. You can resubscribe to any Dropbox plan at any time by going to dropbox.com/plans. Your files, folders, and account settings will still be there. If you resubscribe before your billing cycle ends, your premium features continue without interruption.
