What Happens After You Cancel Apple News+?
You keep access until your billing period ends
Apple does not cut off access immediately. You can continue reading premium magazines and articles until the end of the billing cycle you already paid for.
Free Apple News content stays available
Canceling News+ only removes access to premium content like full magazines, subscriber-only articles, and audio stories. The free Apple News app with curated news stories remains fully available on your device.
Downloaded magazines become inaccessible
Any magazine issues or premium articles you downloaded for offline reading will be locked once your subscription period ends. You will not be able to open or read them without an active subscription.
Family members lose access too
Apple News+ can be shared with up to five family members through Family Sharing. If you are the subscriber and you cancel, all family members will also lose access to premium News+ content when your billing period ends.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens to downloaded magazines after I cancel?
All downloaded magazines and premium articles will become locked once your subscription ends. You can continue reading them until the end of your billing period, but they will be inaccessible after that. Free news content in the Apple News app remains available.
Can I cancel Apple News+ if it came with Apple One?
Apple News+ is included only in the Apple One Premier plan. You cannot remove News+ from the bundle individually. You would need to cancel or downgrade your Apple One plan, then subscribe separately to the other Apple services you want to keep.
Will I get a refund if I cancel Apple News+?
Apple does not offer prorated refunds for Apple News+. Your subscription continues until the end of the current billing cycle you have already paid for. If you cancel during a free trial, access may end immediately.
Can I still use Apple News for free after canceling News+?
Yes. The Apple News app is free to use and will continue to provide curated news stories, trending topics, and content from your followed channels. You only lose access to News+ exclusive features like full magazine issues and subscriber-only articles.
Is Apple News+ available in all countries?
Apple News+ is available in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. If you subscribed while in a supported country and travel elsewhere, you may not be able to access all content. Cancellation works the same way regardless of your location.
