Cancel Captions on iPhone (Most Common)
Open iPhone Settings
Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad. This is the gear icon on your home screen. Since the Captions app is primarily an iOS app, most subscribers use Apple's billing.
Tap Your Name at the Top
Tap your name and Apple Account at the very top of the Settings screen. This takes you to your Apple Account overview where you can manage all Apple services.
Go to Subscriptions
Tap Subscriptions from the list. You will see all your active and expired App Store subscriptions here. Look for the Captions app in the active subscriptions list.
Select Captions
Tap on Captions in your active subscriptions. This opens the subscription details page showing your current plan, renewal date, and pricing.
Tap Cancel Subscription
Scroll down and tap Cancel Subscription (or Cancel Free Trial if you are in a trial period). Confirm when prompted. You will retain access until the end of your current billing cycle.

What Happens After You Cancel Captions?
Premium features stay active until billing period ends
After canceling, you retain full access to all Captions Pro features until the end of your current billing cycle. This includes AI captions, eye contact correction, video editing tools, and watermark-free exports.
Export your projects before expiration
Make sure to export and save all your video projects before your subscription ends. After reverting to the free tier, you may lose access to premium export options and some editing features on existing projects.
Watermarks return on the free plan
Once your subscription expires, any new videos you create with Captions will include a watermark. Previously exported videos without watermarks are not affected.
Free tier features remain available
Your Captions account does not get deleted. You can still use the free version of the app with basic captioning features. You can resubscribe at any time to regain pro features.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I cancel Captions from within the app?
No. The Captions app does not have a cancel button inside the app itself. Since all billing goes through Apple or Google, you must cancel through your device's subscription settings. On iPhone, go to Settings > Your Name > Subscriptions. On Android, open Google Play Store > Profile > Payments & subscriptions.
Will I get a refund if I cancel Captions?
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google, not by Captions directly. You can request a refund from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com within 14 days, or from Google Play within 48 hours of purchase. Annual subscriptions may have different refund windows.
What happens if I delete the Captions app?
Deleting the Captions app from your phone does NOT cancel your subscription. You will continue to be billed unless you explicitly cancel through your Apple or Google subscription settings. Always cancel first, then delete the app if you wish.
How do I cancel a Captions free trial?
Cancel your free trial the same way you would cancel a paid subscription: through iPhone Settings > Subscriptions or Google Play Store > Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid being charged for the first billing period.
Can I switch to a different Captions plan instead of canceling?
Yes. Instead of canceling entirely, you can downgrade or change your plan. Go to your subscription settings in the App Store or Google Play, select Captions, and choose a different plan option if available. Changes typically take effect at your next renewal date.
