How to Cancel Copilot Money in 2026
Cancelling Copilot Money takes 3 to 4 taps. The only real question is which billing channel you used: Apple App Store or Stripe direct. Export your CSV first, then pick a path. Two minutes total.
Before you tap cancel, do this
Export your transaction CSV first.
Open the app, go to Settings, and choose Export Data. If you joined Copilot after Mint shut down in March 2024, that CSV may hold two years of categorized transactions and notes. Cancelling does not touch the data. Deleting the account wipes it within 60 days with no recovery. Copilot's export doc has the steps. Five minutes now, no regrets later.
Which billing channel did you use?
Cancel the wrong way, nothing happens. Check your last receipt email.
App Store
Signed up on iPhone or iPad. Apple charges your card. Receipt says "Apple". Majority of users.
Stripe (direct)
Signed up on the web app (launched December 2025) or Mac. Receipt says "Copilot Money via Stripe".
Path A: cancel via Apple App Store
Four taps. Apple controls this flow, so no retention survey, no discount pop-up. Use the same Apple ID you subscribed with. Copilot's help doc confirms this is the only path for App Store subscribers.
Open Settings on the iPhone you signed up on.
Tap your name, then Subscriptions.
Tap Copilot Money. (Not there? See Path B.)
Tap Cancel Subscription, confirm. Status flips to "Expires on [date]". Apple emails a receipt. Keep it.
Path B: cancel via Stripe (web or Mac)
The cancel lives inside the app, not in Apple Subscriptions. Three taps.
Open Copilot Money → Settings → Manage your subscription → Stripe portal → Cancel plan → confirm.
Stripe emails a confirmation within a minute. Access continues to the period-end date in that email.
When the charge stops (and the Mint-refugee refund problem)
Either path: access continues to the end of the current billing period (date is in your email). Then paid features lock and the account goes inactive. Data stays put unless you separately delete the account.
Copilot does not prorate refunds. TOS section 5.E: "if you cancel your subscription outside of [the first month], you are not entitled to receive any refund or credit, full or partial." Bought the $95 annual in month two, want out in month six? You eat the rest. Stripe subscribers inside the first 30 days can email [email protected] within 5 days of cancelling for the one-month refund the TOS does allow.
This stings hardest for Mint refugees. Mint shut down March 2024, Copilot raised a $6M Series A off the migration wave, and many of those refugees bought annual. If that is you and you are unhappy now, your one remaining lever is an Apple refund request at reportaproblem.apple.com. Case by case. Not promised. The only door left.
The thing Copilot doesn't put in the cancel flow
Cancelling and deleting your account are two different things.
Copilot's help doc spells this out; the app does not nudge you. Tap Delete Account thinking it cancels billing and you have done two things at once: wiped your data AND left the subscription running (Apple and Stripe never get the message). Deletion is permanent and wipes bank connections, budgets, and history within 60 days. If you only want to stop paying, cancel via one of the two paths above and leave the account alone.
Questions Copilot Money users actually ask
Why doesn't Copilot Money show up in my Apple Subscriptions?
Either you are signed in to a different Apple ID, or you actually subscribed via Stripe (web or Mac), in which case the cancel lives inside the app under Settings. Check your last receipt email to be sure.
Will my data still be there if I cancel without deleting?
Yes. Cancelling only stops the renewal. Account, bank connections, and history stay in place. Paid features lock at period-end. Resubscribe later and everything picks back up.
My next charge is in 12 hours. Will I get refunded if I cancel right now?
Cancel anyway, then email [email protected] immediately. The TOS gives them discretion to retroactively cancel and refund an "inadvertent renewal" if you flag it within 24 hours of renewal. They will not promise. They do honor it sometimes.
