Cancel Discord Nitro on Desktop or Browser
Open Discord User Settings
Open the Discord desktop app or go to discord.com in your browser and log in. Click the gear icon next to your username and avatar at the bottom of the left sidebar. This opens User Settings.
Go to Subscriptions
In the left sidebar of User Settings, scroll down to the Billing Settings section and click Subscriptions. This page shows your active Nitro or Nitro Basic subscription, billing date, and payment method.
Click Cancel on your Nitro plan
Under your Nitro or Nitro Basic subscription card, click the Cancel button. Discord will show you what perks you will lose and may offer you a discounted rate to stay subscribed.
Confirm the Cancellation
Follow the on-screen prompts and click Confirm to finalize the cancellation. Your Nitro perks, including server boosts, custom emoji, larger uploads, and HD streaming, will continue until the end of your current billing period.
Important: Cancel on the Same Platform
Discord requires you to cancel from the same type of device where you originally purchased Nitro. If you bought Nitro through the desktop or browser app, you can only cancel through desktop or browser. If you bought it through a mobile device, you must cancel through the mobile app or the corresponding app store (Apple/Google).
Subscribed Through Apple or Google?
If you purchased Discord Nitro through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, you need to cancel through those platforms. The Discord desktop app will not have a cancel option for mobile subscriptions.

What Happens After You Cancel Discord Nitro?
Your perks continue until the billing period ends
After canceling, you keep all Nitro perks -- custom emoji, larger file uploads, HD streaming, animated avatar, and server boosts -- until the end of your current billing cycle. Nothing changes immediately.
Server boosts are removed when the period expires
The 2 free server boosts included with Nitro will be removed once your subscription ends. Any servers you boosted may lose their boost level, which means those servers could lose perks like extra emoji slots, better audio quality, or a higher upload limit.
Your custom profile features revert
Animated avatars, custom banners, profile themes, and the Nitro badge will be removed from your profile after your subscription ends. Your profile reverts to the free tier appearance. Previously uploaded custom emoji in your personal emoji list will no longer be usable across servers.
Your account and messages are not affected
Canceling Nitro does not delete your Discord account, servers, messages, or friends list. All your data remains. You just lose the premium features. Files you uploaded while on Nitro that exceed the free limit will still be visible but you cannot upload new large files.

Discord does not typically offer refunds for Nitro or Nitro Basic subscriptions. If you subscribed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, you may be able to request a refund through those platforms. Apple and Google each have their own refund policies.
Will the servers I boosted lose their perks?
Yes, once your subscription ends and the included boosts are removed, those servers may drop below their current boost level. This means the server could lose perks like additional emoji slots, higher audio bitrate, animated server icon, or the server boost banner.
Why can't I find the cancel button in Discord?
You must cancel from the same platform where you originally subscribed. If you bought Nitro on desktop, the cancel option only appears on desktop. If you bought it on mobile through Apple or Google, cancel through those platforms' subscription settings instead.
Can I resubscribe to Nitro after canceling?
