Cancel Grammarly on the Website
Go to the Subscription page
Visit account.grammarly.com in your web browser and sign in. Then navigate to the Subscription page. You can also reach it by clicking your profile icon in the Grammarly editor and selecting Account, then Subscription.
Click Cancel Subscription
Scroll to the bottom of the Subscription page. You will see a Cancel Subscription link. Click it. Grammarly may first show you a special offer or discount to try to keep you.
Click Continue in the confirmation window
A window will appear asking you to reconsider. Click Continue to proceed with the cancellation. Grammarly may present one more retention offer at this stage.
Choose a reason and confirm
Select a reason for canceling from the list provided. Then click Cancel Subscription to finalize. You will receive a confirmation email, and your premium features remain active until the end of your current billing period.
Subscribed Through Apple or Google?
If you purchased Grammarly Premium through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, you must cancel through those platforms. The Grammarly website will not show a cancel option in this case.

What Happens After You Cancel Grammarly?
Premium access continues until your billing date
Grammarly does not revoke premium features immediately. You continue to have full access to advanced suggestions, tone detection, plagiarism checks, and all premium features until the end of your current billing period.
You keep the free tier
After your premium expires, your account automatically reverts to Grammarly Free. The free tier still checks basic spelling, grammar, and punctuation across all your devices. You lose advanced features like clarity rewrites, tone adjustments, and plagiarism detection.
No refunds, including annual plans
Grammarly does not provide refunds for any plan, including annual subscriptions. If you are on an annual plan and cancel partway through, you will not receive a prorated refund for the remaining months.
Your documents and dictionary are preserved
Documents you saved in the Grammarly editor, your personal dictionary, and your account preferences are all preserved after cancellation. If you resubscribe later, everything is still there.

Will I get a refund if I cancel Grammarly?
No. Grammarly does not offer refunds for any plan, including monthly, quarterly, or annual subscriptions. Your premium access simply continues until the end of the period you already paid for.
Can I still use Grammarly after canceling Premium?
Yes. After cancellation, your account reverts to Grammarly Free. You keep basic spelling and grammar checking across all platforms. You lose premium features including advanced clarity and tone suggestions, full-sentence rewrites, plagiarism detection, and word choice improvements.
How do I cancel Grammarly Business?
Only the team administrator can cancel a Grammarly Business subscription. The admin needs to log in, go to the admin panel, navigate to billing settings, and cancel the team plan from there. Individual team members cannot cancel the plan on their own.
Do I need to uninstall the Grammarly extension?
No. You do not need to uninstall the browser extension or keyboard app. The extension will continue to work with the free tier, providing basic spelling and grammar checks. It simply stops showing premium suggestions once your paid period ends.
Can I resubscribe to Grammarly Premium later?
Yes. You can resubscribe at any time by going to your account page and selecting a premium plan. Your personal dictionary, documents, and settings will still be there from your previous subscription.
