How to Cancel Setapp in 3 Steps

Setapp is one of the cleaner Mac cancels. 3 clicks at my.setapp.com, no phone, no chat, no retention discount. The honest part: all 240+ apps on your Mac stop working the day your billing period ends.

The fast path

Sign in at my.setapp.comSubscriptionManage subscriptionCancel subscription → 2 questions → confirm. Web only; the Mac app has no cancel button.

Teams, individual-app subs, or Setapp Mobile in the EU? Keep reading.

The three steps, in detail

1

Open Manage subscription at my.setapp.com

Sign in, click Subscription in the left menu, then Manage subscription. The Mac app has no cancel button anywhere.

2

Click Cancel subscription at the bottom

Scroll past plan details. Cancel subscription sits at the bottom in smaller type. A Pause option (up to 3 months) may appear above. Offered, not enforced.

3

Answer 2 questions, then confirm

Setapp asks why you are leaving and what apps you used most. Genuine feedback form, no retention discount or agent. Click Confirm cancellation. Email arrives within minutes.

The part Setapp does not put in the cancel flow

Every app stops working. All 240+ of them.

On the last day of your billing period, every Setapp app stops launching. CleanMyMac, Bartender, Paste, Ulysses, MindNode, all 240+. Icons stay; apps refuse to open. If you depend on a specific app, buy it standalone first: CleanMyMac, Bartender 5, Paste Pro each run $20 to $50 once vs $9.99/month forever. Setapp's March 2026 individual-app feature makes this easier inside the same account.

The refund clause that voids the refund

14 days (or 30 for annual), but only if you never opened anything.

Setapp's refund policy: 14 days monthly, 30 days annual. The trap: the refund voids the moment you "install or open any app from Setapp" in that period. Open CleanMyMac once after paying $107.88 and the money is gone. Refunds go through a support ticket, 7 to 10 business days.

When the charge actually stops

Access runs to the last day of your billing period (the date on the confirmation email). Card stops getting charged and apps stop launching the same morning. No prorated refund. Account stays open: sign back in anytime. Mac App Store subscribers (rare) cancel from Apple's subscriptions page under Apple's 48-hour refund rules.

If you manage a Setapp for Teams plan

Teams cancellation lives at teams.setapp.com under different TOS. No per-seat refunds for departed members (Trustpilot documents this), so admins must downsize seats proactively. Rare reports exist of cancelled team plans flipping back to auto-renew. Double-check the next billing date a week after you cancel.

Questions Setapp users actually ask

Will my Setapp apps still work after I cancel?

No. Once your billing period ends, all 240+ apps stop launching. Files stay on disk but apps will not open. Hard stop until you resubscribe or buy each app standalone.

Can I get a refund if I cancel within 14 or 30 days?

On paper yes, in practice almost never. The window voids the moment you open any Setapp app. Only people who subscribed by accident, never opened anything, and noticed quickly qualify.

I had Setapp Mobile in the EU. How do I cancel?

You do not have to. Setapp Mobile (the alternative iOS store MacPaw ran under the DMA) shut down February 16, 2026. Billing stopped automatically. The mainline Mac and iOS plan at my.setapp.com is separate and cancels via the steps above.

Does cancelling my bundle also cancel individual app subs from March 2026?

No. Setapp's individual app option creates a separate line item. Cancel each on its own row. Killing the bundle does nothing to standalone subs.

Now that Setapp is off the list, what else is hiding in your Mac stack?

Setapp users typically have 5 to 12 other Mac/iOS subs stacked on top (iCloud, Dropbox, a forgotten app trial). Subcut shows every recurring charge on your card in about 60 seconds, no bank login.
