What Happens After You Cancel Todoist?
Pro features stay active until your billing period ends
Todoist does not cut off access immediately. You can continue using all Pro features like reminders, filters, and labels until the end of your current billing cycle.
You are downgraded to the free Beginner plan
After your billing period ends, your account reverts to the free Beginner plan. You keep your tasks and projects, but are limited to 5 active projects and lose access to features like reminders, file uploads, and advanced filters.
Extra projects become read-only
If you have more than 5 active projects, the extra projects will become read-only on the Beginner plan. You will need to complete, archive, or delete projects to get back under the limit before you can create new ones.
You can resubscribe anytime
Your Todoist account and all your data remain intact. You can upgrade back to Pro at any time, and all your tasks, projects, and history will be exactly as you left them.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will I lose my tasks if I cancel Todoist Pro?
No, your tasks and projects are not deleted. However, if you exceed the free plan's limit of 5 active projects, those extra projects become read-only. Your task history, labels, and comments are all preserved.
Can I get a refund for my Todoist subscription?
Todoist offers a 30-day refund window for annual plans purchased directly through the website. Monthly subscriptions are generally non-refundable. If you subscribed through Apple or Google, refund policies from those platforms apply instead.
What features do I lose when I cancel Todoist Pro?
On the free Beginner plan, you lose access to reminders, filters and labels (beyond basics), calendar layout, file uploads, activity history, and are limited to 5 active projects with 5 collaborators per project.
How do I cancel a Todoist Business subscription?
If you are the team admin, click your team name in the sidebar, then click Subscription under the team name. Click Cancel plan, then confirm by clicking Cancel subscription. Only the admin who set up the Business plan can cancel it.
Does canceling through the Microsoft Store work differently?
Todoist Pro payments made through the Microsoft Store do not auto-renew, so you typically do not need to manually cancel. However, check your Microsoft account subscriptions to confirm no recurring charge is set up.
