On a free trial? Cancel at least 24 hours before it ends

Apple offers a 7-day free trial for new subscribers and a 3-month free trial when you buy a new Apple device. If you are on a free trial and do not want to be charged, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial expires. Important: Unlike paid subscriptions, canceling during a free trial ends your access immediately — you will not get to keep watching until the trial date.

Cancel Apple TV+ on iPhone or iPad

1

Open Settings

Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad. This is the gray gear icon on your Home Screen. Make sure you are signed in with the Apple Account that has the Apple TV+ subscription. If you got your subscription through Family Sharing, the family organizer is the one who needs to cancel.

2

Tap your name (Apple Account)

Tap your name and profile picture at the very top of the Settings screen. This takes you to your Apple Account settings where all your subscriptions, payment methods, and account information are managed.

3

Tap Subscriptions

Tap Subscriptions to see all your active and expired Apple subscriptions. Apple TV+ will appear in the active section. If you do not see Apple TV+ listed here, your access might come from an Apple One bundle, a Family Sharing member, or an Amazon Prime Video Channel subscription.

4

Tap Apple TV+

Tap Apple TV+ in the active subscriptions list. This opens the subscription details page where you can see your plan, monthly price, next renewal date, and whether you are currently in a free trial or paid period.

5

Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm

Scroll down and tap Cancel Subscription (you may need to scroll to find it). Apple will ask you to confirm. Tap Confirm to finalize the cancellation. If you are on a paid plan, your access continues until the end of the current billing period. If you are on a free trial, access ends immediately upon cancellation.

What Happens After You Cancel Apple TV+?

Paid subscribers keep access until the billing period ends

If you are on a paid monthly plan, you can continue watching Apple TV+ originals until the last day of your current billing cycle. This means you can cancel early in the month and still enjoy the service for the remaining days you have already paid for.

Free trial cancellations lose access immediately

Unlike paid subscriptions, if you cancel during a free trial (whether the 7-day trial or the 3-month device promotion), you lose access to Apple TV+ right away. Your trial does not continue to the original end date. This is an important distinction — if you want to maximize your free trial, wait until close to the expiration date to cancel, but make sure to do it at least 24 hours before to avoid charges.

Downloaded content becomes unavailable

Any shows or movies you have downloaded from Apple TV+ for offline viewing will become unplayable once your subscription ends. The downloaded files are DRM-protected and require an active subscription to access. However, any movies or TV shows you have purchased from the iTunes Store are yours to keep permanently and are not affected by the cancellation.

You can resubscribe anytime

Apple TV+ does not delete your account data when you cancel. Your watch history, "Up Next" queue, and personal recommendations are preserved. If you resubscribe, everything will be right where you left it. Apple frequently offers promotional pricing and free trial extensions to returning subscribers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I cancel Apple TV+ during the free trial without being charged?

Yes. You can cancel at any time during a free trial to avoid being charged. Whether you are on the 7-day free trial for new subscribers or the 3-month free trial from a new Apple device purchase, you will not be billed if you cancel before the trial expires. Just remember to cancel at least 24 hours before the trial end date to be safe, and know that your access ends immediately when you cancel a free trial.

I do not see Apple TV+ in my subscriptions. Where is it?

There are several possibilities. First, your Apple TV+ access might come from an Apple One bundle rather than a standalone subscription — check if Apple One appears in your subscriptions instead. Second, you may have subscribed through Amazon Prime Video Channels, in which case you need to cancel through Amazon. Third, a family member may be sharing their subscription with you via Family Sharing, meaning only they can cancel it.

What happens to my Apple TV+ channels and add-on subscriptions?

Apple TV+ channel subscriptions (like Paramount+, Starz, or AMC+) that you subscribed to within the Apple TV app are separate from your Apple TV+ subscription. Canceling Apple TV+ does not cancel those channel add-ons. Each channel subscription must be canceled individually through your Apple Account subscriptions. Conversely, keeping Apple TV+ is not required to maintain channel subscriptions.

How much does Apple TV+ cost?

Apple TV+ is $9.99 per month as of 2026. This includes access for up to six family members through Family Sharing at no extra cost. Apple also offers a 7-day free trial for new subscribers and a 3-month free trial with the purchase of a new iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV device (redeemable within 90 days of activation).

Can I cancel Apple TV+ from the Apple TV app?

On an Apple TV streaming device, yes. Go to Settings > Profiles and Accounts > [your profile] > Subscriptions, then select Apple TV+ and cancel. On iPhone or iPad, the Apple TV app itself does not have a cancel button — you need to go through the Settings app as described in our step-by-step guide above. On Mac, you can cancel through the App Store by clicking your profile picture, then Account Settings, then Manage next to Subscriptions.
