How to Cancel Apple TV+ (and Find Your Trial Expiry Date)
Most people here got 3 months free with a new iPhone and now see a $12.99 charge. We cover both: cancelling in 60 seconds, and finding the exact day the trial converts.
First: which “Apple TV” are we talking about?
- Apple TV 4K: the streaming box. Hardware, nothing to cancel.
- Apple TV app: free, pre-installed. Nothing to cancel.
- Apple TV+: the $12.99/mo service (Ted Lasso, Severance). This one.
Cancelling Apple TV+ doesn’t affect the app or hardware. Purchased and rented movies still play.
The trap most guides skip
The 3-month trial that becomes $12.99/mo
Every new iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV 4K comes with 3 months free. The trial starts when you redeem (90-day window from setup), not when you buy. It converts to $12.99/mo unless you cancel 24 hours before it ends. Apple TV+ jumped from $9.99 to $12.99 in August 2025 (CNBC).
Find your exact expiry date:
Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Apple TV+. The Renews [date] line is when you'll be charged.
No Apple TV+ entry? Trial isn't redeemed yet (Apple Community). Nothing to cancel.
The cancel path (60 seconds)
iPhone / iPad
Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → Apple TV+ → Cancel Subscription → confirm.
Mac
Open App Store → click your name (lower-left) → Account Settings → scroll to Subscriptions → Manage → cancel next to Apple TV+.
Any browser
Go to tv.apple.com → sign in → click your account icon (upper right) → Settings → Subscriptions → Manage → Cancel Subscription.
If you don’t see Apple TV+ in Subscriptions
You’re either signed into the wrong Apple ID (check whether a family member’s ID actually holds the sub) or you’re billed through a third party. Apple cannot cancel third-party billing on your behalf:
- • Google Play (Android): cancel at play.google.com
- • Amazon (Fire TV, Prime Video Channels): cancel in your Amazon account
- • Roku: cancel at my.roku.com
- • Carrier bundle (T-Mobile, Verizon, etc.): cancel in the carrier portal
On Apple One?
If Apple TV+ is bundled in Apple One, it will not appear as a separate line and you cannot remove just the TV+ portion. Either downgrade the tier or cancel the bundle. See our Apple One cancel guide.
When the charge stops (and the 54%-off offer)
Access runs to the end of the current period. No prorated refund per Section B of Apple Media Services Terms: "All Transactions are final." On the $99/yr annual plan, request refunds via reportaproblem.apple.com. Not guaranteed.
Before the final confirm, Apple shows a 54%-off retention offer ($5.99/mo for two months) on the cancel screen, first reported by 9to5Mac after the August 2025 hike. Apple says it "may only be presented to customers who meet certain criteria." No pause feature exists; cancel and resubscribe is the only break, and there are no fees.
Questions people actually ask
Will cancelling Apple TV+ also cancel Apple One?
No. If you're on Apple One, there is no standalone Apple TV+ line. Downgrade the bundle, cancel the bundle (also kills Music, Arcade, iCloud+), or keep paying.
I deleted the Apple TV app. Am I cancelled?
No. Deleting the app does nothing to the subscription. Apple keeps billing $12.99 each month until you cancel through Settings → Subscriptions (Apple Community). Already deleted the app? Use tv.apple.com.
If you’re sorting out the Apple bill
Apple TV+ is sorted. What else is on auto-renew?
Device trials are how a lot of subscriptions sneak onto your card. Subcut shows every recurring charge across your accounts in about 60 seconds and pings you before any trial converts, so you decide ahead of time instead of finding it on your statement.
