Cancel Asana via Admin Console

1

Log in to Asana

Go to app.asana.com in your web browser and sign in. Make sure you are logged in as the billing owner, since only the billing owner can cancel the subscription. Regular admins and members cannot access billing settings.

2

Open the Admin Console

Click your profile photo in the top-right corner of the screen. From the dropdown menu, select Admin Console. This opens the administrative dashboard for your Asana organization.

3

Go to Billing

In the Admin Console, click the Billing tab in the left sidebar. This shows your current plan details, billing cycle, and payment information.

4

Click Cancel Plan

Under Plan details, click Cancel Plan. Asana will present retention offers and ask for your reason for leaving. Keep clicking through the prompts until you reach the final confirmation. Once confirmed, you will receive a cancellation confirmation email.

What Happens After You Cancel Asana?

You keep access until your billing period ends

Asana does not cut off access immediately. Your cancellation takes effect at the next renewal date, and you continue to have full access to paid features until then.

Projects and tasks stay on the free plan

Your projects, tasks, conversations, and team data are not deleted. They remain on the free Basic plan. However, you lose access to premium features like Timeline view, custom fields, goals, and advanced search.

No refunds for unused time

Asana does not issue prorated refunds. If you cancel mid-cycle, you retain access through the end of your paid period but do not receive a partial refund.

Team members keep free access

All team members retain access to projects on the free plan. They can still create tasks, comment, and collaborate, but premium features are no longer available to anyone in the workspace.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I lose my Asana projects if I cancel?

No. Your projects, tasks, comments, and attachments remain on the free Basic plan. You will lose access to premium features like Timeline, Portfolios, Goals, custom fields, and advanced reporting, but your data stays intact.

Who can cancel an Asana subscription?

Only the billing owner can cancel the Asana subscription. If you are not the billing owner, contact them to make changes. You can check who the billing owner is in the Admin Console under the Members tab.

Does Asana offer refunds after cancellation?

No. Asana does not provide refunds for partial billing periods. Your paid features remain active until the end of the current billing cycle, and then the workspace automatically downgrades to the free plan.

Can I resubscribe to Asana after canceling?

Yes. You can upgrade to a paid plan at any time by going to the Admin Console and selecting a plan. All of your existing projects and data will still be available when you resubscribe.
