How to Cancel BODi (Beachbody) in 2026: The Full Exit
Cancelling BODi is not one cancel. It is up to four. The membership, the Shakeology autoship, any supplement autoships, and your old Coach fee all auto-renew separately, and cancelling one does nothing to the others. Here is the full exit, with the retention script and the refund that is not coming.
Read this first
The single most expensive mistake people make with BODi is assuming that cancelling the streaming membership cancels everything. It does not. BODi membership is one product. Shakeology, at roughly $130 a month, is a second. BODi Performance, Recover, and Beachbar autoships are a third bucket. If you were ever a Beachbody Coach, your $15.95 monthly Business Service Fee is a fourth. Each one has its own line item, its own renewal date, and its own cancel button. The 1,400-plus BBB complaints against the company are full of people who cancelled one and got billed for the rest for months.
On top of that, the Cancel Membership button is documented to disappear in some browsers mid-flow, annual renewals are non-refundable by policy, and card data is sometimes retained after you remove it from the account, which is how people end up reporting charges two years after they thought they had cancelled. Below is how to do this once and have it actually stick.
Step zero: figure out how many BODi subscriptions you actually have
Before you cancel anything, sign in at mybodi.com, open My Account → Memberships and Subscriptions, and count the line items. That page is the only source of truth. Whatever appears there is what is auto-renewing on your card. Whatever does not appear, but is still showing up on your statement, is in one of the side channels below.
BODi Membership
$35/mo, $119/6 months, or $179/yr (promo first year $99). Streaming workouts.
Cancel: mybodi.com self-serve, follow the steps below.
Shakeology Autoship
~$130/mo. Monthly powder delivery. Separate from BODi membership entirely.
Cancel: standard plans self-serve; grandfathered plans require an agent as of 3/1/2024.
Supplement Autoships
BODi Performance, Recover, Beachbar, ActiVit, others. Each is its own line item.
Cancel: each separately in Memberships and Subscriptions.
Coach Business Service Fee
~$15.95/mo. MLM is dead (Dec 2024) but the fee did not automatically stop for everyone.
Cancel: separate Coach account flow at faq.bodi.com.
Side-channel billing: If you signed up through the App Store, Google Play, or PayPal, your BODi sub may not appear in mybodi.com at all. App Store users cancel in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Google Play users go to Play Store → Payments & subscriptions. PayPal users go to Settings → Payments → Manage automatic payments and revoke "Beachbody." Per BODi policy, the 30-day money-back guarantee does not apply to App Store or Google Play billing.
Why this is a pattern, not a glitch
Beachbody has been in regulators' inbox for almost a decade. In August 2017, the City of Santa Monica won a $3.6 million California judgment against Beachbody for charging customers on a recurring basis without express prior consent. The settlement required the company to use a separate consent checkbox, send a prebill email before each renewal, and offer easy online and phone cancellation. The prebill email defense BODi now points to in refund denials is, quite literally, court-mandated.
Since the 2023 rebrand from Beachbody to BODi, the company has had a 2023 class action over Coach misclassification, an ongoing VPPA mass arbitration over sharing user watch histories with Facebook, and the December 2024 shutdown of the Team Beachbody MLM network with roughly a third of the workforce laid off. Trustpilot: 1.4 stars across 2,000+ reviews. BBB: 1,400-plus complaints in three years, with the same recurring theme. People cancelled, kept getting charged, and were told the charge was their fault for not seeing the prebill email.
The multi-sub structure is the product. So is the friction. Knowing that going in is half the battle.
Before you click anything, have these ready
- → The exact email you used at signup. Legacy Beachbody and teambeachbody.com accounts often will not log in with a newer address. Search your inbox for "Welcome to Beachbody" or "Welcome to BODi" to find it.
- → A fresh browser in Incognito or Private mode. The vanishing Cancel button is real; a clean session is the fastest workaround.
- → Your next renewal date, from the most recent prebill email. If you are inside 30 days of an annual renewal and want any chance of a refund, that window matters.
- → A screenshot tool ready for the Memberships and Subscriptions page, every confirmation screen, and the confirmation email.
- → BODi support: 1-800-470-7870. Plan on 10 to 20 minutes if you call.
- → Your card statement open in another tab. Charges may appear as BEACHBODY, BODi, TEAM BEACHBODY, or BEACHBODY *SUBSCRIPTION. Same company, all of them.
The cancellation, step by step
These steps cancel the core BODi (Beachbody) streaming membership. They do not cancel Shakeology, supplement autoships, or your Coach fee. We handle each of those below.
Sign in at mybodi.com
Use the email you originally signed up with, even if your account is technically still under the old Beachbody brand. Most legacy logins redirect, but a stubborn minority need the original email plus a password reset.
Open My Account → Memberships and Subscriptions
Click the profile icon (top right), choose My Account, then Memberships and Subscriptions. Take a screenshot of this entire page before cancelling anything. If a charge appears later for something not on the list, that screenshot is your chargeback evidence.
Click Manage on the BODi membership line
BODi presents two options that sound similar but are different. Turn off auto-renew keeps access until the end of the paid period and ends quietly with no refund. Cancel membership now ends access today and forfeits remaining time, with refund only inside the 30-day money-back window on initial purchases (not renewals). For most annual users who do not want a refund, turn off auto-renew is the right pick.
Power through the retention screens
Expect two to three "Are you sure?" screens and at least one offer to pause or discount. Decline each (the script section below has the exact phrasing). If the Cancel button disappears between screens, close the tab, clear cache, and reopen in Incognito. Do not assume the cancel is done because the button vanished.
Capture the confirmation, save the email
Screenshot the confirmation number. Move the confirmation email to a labeled folder ("BODi cancel"). Given the pattern of billing months or years after a confirmed cancellation, this email is your most important evidence.
Repeat for every other line item
Return to Memberships and Subscriptions and repeat for Shakeology, BODi Performance, Recover, Beachbar, and anything still active. Grandfathered Shakeology has no self-serve cancel since March 2024; call 1-800-470-7870 or use chat with your account email and order number ready.
What the cancel flow (and the phone rep) will throw at you
Screens vary by tier and month, but the escalation pattern is consistent. Web first, then phone.
Web: the screens, in order
Screen 1
"Are you sure you want to cancel? You'll lose access to all 80+ programs."
Click Yes, cancel. No reason needed. The loss-aversion framing is the whole pattern.
Screen 2
"How about a 50% discount for the next 3 months instead?" (sometimes a free month, sometimes a pause)
Click No thanks, cancel my membership. The discount typically reverts to standard price after the promo window, so you would have walked right back into a renewal at full rate.
Screen 3
"Can you tell us why? Pick a reason."
Pick any option. The survey is non-blocking; your answer does not trigger or unlock anything. Skip to the next screen.
Screen 4
"Final confirmation. Are you ready to cancel?"
Confirm. If the button does not respond, the flow has stalled. Reload, clear cache, switch to Incognito, and start over. Do not assume the cancel went through because the page froze.
Phone: the script, if you have to call
If you are on grandfathered Shakeology, the web flow is broken, or you want a refund on a renewal, you will end up calling 1-800-470-7870. Lead with this line:
"Hi. I'm calling to cancel my BODi account, including any Shakeology autoship, supplement autoships, and Coach fee on file. I'm not interested in pausing, discounts, or any retention offers. Please cancel everything and email me a confirmation."
Offer 1
Rep: "I can offer you 50% off for the next 3 months."
You: "No thanks. Please cancel everything on the account."
Offer 2
Rep: "Would you like to pause for 3 months instead?"
You: "No, I'd like a full cancellation today."
Guilt move
Rep: "Are you sure? You'll lose your saved progress and program history."
You: "Yes. Please proceed and email me a confirmation for every subscription on the account."
The phrase that ends the loop
If the rep keeps pushing:
You: "I'm not interested in any retention offers. Please cancel my BODi membership, my Shakeology, and any other subscription on my account, and confirm in writing."
Critical: Ask the rep to read back every subscription they are cancelling. The single biggest pattern in BBB complaints is users who cancelled their BODi membership by phone and were charged for Shakeology the next month because the rep "only cancelled what you asked for." Make them name each one.
If you were ever a Beachbody Coach
The MLM is dead. Your Coach fee may not be.
BODi announced the end of the Team Beachbody multi-level marketing model on September 30, 2024, transitioned to a single-level affiliate model on November 1, 2024, and fully wound down the Coach network on December 4, 2024. Roughly a third of the workforce was laid off in the process. Many former Coaches with active Coach Business Service Fees expected the $15.95 monthly charge to stop automatically. For a meaningful chunk of them, it did not.
The Coach account cancellation is a separate process from BODi membership cancellation. The official path is at faq.bodi.com/us/en/answer?Id=9659. If your Coach account predated the MLM shutdown and the fee is still appearing on your card, treat it as billing-after-cancel and follow the chargeback steps below. The MLM-shutdown announcement is your evidence that the company knew this subscription should have ended.
Anecdotal accounts from former Coaches, such as this longtime Coach's exit narrative, describe needing to cancel a BODi membership, a Shakeology autoship, supplement autoships, and a Coach fee all simultaneously, and getting different answers from different reps about which had actually stopped. Document everything in writing.
The $179 question: can you get a refund?
BODi's 30-day money-back guarantee covers the initial purchase only. Renewals are explicitly excluded. If you just paid $179 for an annual renewal you forgot was coming, BODi's standard response to refund requests, repeated across hundreds of BBB filings, is a variant of "When you enrolled, you agreed to terms and conditions that this is an automatic renewal subscription," with a pointer to the prebill email.
That does not mean you are out of options. It means the official refund door is closed and you need a side door:
- 1. Chargeback through your card issuer. File a dispute citing unauthorized recurring charges. Attach your cancel confirmation email if you have one, screenshots of Memberships and Subscriptions, and the renewal date. Major card networks generally allow disputes within 60 to 120 days of the charge. Even if the original 2017 settlement requires BODi to send the prebill email, that does not give them the right to keep your money if you can show you tried to cancel.
- 2. State attorney general complaint. California (BPC 17602), Colorado (HB 23-1234), New York, Connecticut, Vermont, and Illinois all have active auto-renewal laws. The federal click-to-cancel rule from the FTC was vacated by the 8th Circuit in July 2025, so it is not active law, but state laws are enforceable and your state AG's complaint inbox is where companies actually feel pressure.
- 3. BBB complaint. Public complaints pull responses. BODi's El Segundo BBB profile shows the company does respond to filed complaints, often with refunds it refused on the first request through customer service.
For App Store and Google Play billing, BODi's policy does not apply. Use Apple's Report a Problem page at reportaproblem.apple.com or Google Play's refund flow. Both are more generous than BODi's policy and you do not have to argue with anyone.
How to verify the cancellation actually stuck
With most brands, the confirmation email is enough. With BODi, it is not. The pattern of charges months or years after a confirmed cancel is too consistent.
- Within an hour: confirm the email arrived. If it did not, the cancel did not save. Run the flow again from a fresh browser.
- Within 24 hours: sign back in and confirm every line item shows cancelled or no renewal date. Anything still "active" will still charge you.
- On the next statement: search for BEACHBODY, BODi, TEAM BEACHBODY, and BEACHBODY *SUBSCRIPTION.
- For 6 months: check each statement. The zombie-charge pattern is real.
- For annual plans: set a calendar reminder 7 days before the anniversary of your original signup. That is when a hidden auto-renew would fire.
If you want to skip steps 3 through 5 entirely, this is what subscription-trackers are for. Subcut flags recurring charges by descriptor across statements, so a BEACHBODY *SUBSCRIPTION line two years from now shows up in your inbox, not as a surprise on the card.
Questions BODi customers actually ask
Does cancelling my BODi membership also cancel Shakeology?
No. Shakeology, BODi Performance, Recover, Beachbar, and the legacy Coach Business Service Fee are each separate subscriptions with their own renewal dates. Cancel each line item independently inside My Account → Memberships and Subscriptions. Grandfathered Shakeology, since March 1, 2024, requires an agent on phone or chat.
I just paid $179 for the annual renewal. Can I get my money back?
By policy, no. The 30-day money-back guarantee covers initial purchases only, not renewals. Your real options are a card chargeback citing the unauthorized recurring charge, a state attorney general complaint under your state auto-renewal law, and a BBB complaint, which tends to pull a more generous response than customer service alone.
The Cancel button keeps disappearing. Is BODi doing this on purpose?
It is documented across multiple third-party guides. The workaround: clear your cache and cookies for mybodi.com, switch to Incognito or Private mode, or use a different browser. If it persists, call 1-800-470-7870 and run the phone script above.
My MLM Coach account was supposed to end in December 2024. Why am I still being charged?
The MLM ended company-wide, but the $15.95 Coach fee did not stop automatically for every former Coach. Cancel the Coach account separately at faq.bodi.com/us/en/answer?Id=9659. If the fee continued to bill after December 4, 2024, treat each charge as billing-after-cancel and dispute it, citing BODi's own shutdown announcement.
I cancelled and got charged anyway. What do I do?
Documented pattern. Contact BODi with your confirmation number, request a refund in writing, and if denied, file a chargeback with your card (attach the confirmation email and Memberships and Subscriptions screenshot, call it unauthorized recurring billing). Follow up with state AG and BBB complaints. Card issuers tend to side with the cardholder when the documentation is clean.
My statement says BEACHBODY but I cancelled BODi. Are these different companies?
Same company. The 2023 rebrand did not update the merchant descriptor everywhere. BEACHBODY, BODi, TEAM BEACHBODY, and BEACHBODY *SUBSCRIPTION are all the same parent. Any of these after a confirmed cancel is a billing-after-cancel dispute.
The same playbook is running on other apps you pay
Multi-sub entanglement, prebill emails buried in spam, vanishing cancel buttons, charges under unfamiliar merchant descriptors. BODi is the loud version. Most of your other subscriptions run quieter variants of the same retention pattern. Subcut spots every recurring charge on your card and surfaces the renewals before they hit, so you decide ahead of time, not in the cancel flow at 11pm.
