Cancel Evernote on the Website
Log in to Evernote Web
Go to evernote.com and sign in with your account credentials. You need to use the web version to manage your subscription. The desktop and mobile apps do not have direct cancellation options.
Go to Account Settings > Billing
Navigate to your Account Settings, then select Billing from the left-hand menu. This page shows your current plan, renewal date, and payment history.
Select Manage, then Cancel plan
Next to Your plan, click Manage. At the bottom of the page that appears, select Cancel plan. For older plan types, you may see Cancel subscription or the option to downgrade to Evernote Free directly.
Confirm by clicking Cancel and lose all benefits
Scroll to the bottom and click Cancel and lose all benefits (or Continue to cancel depending on your plan). You may be asked to provide a reason. After confirming, you will receive a confirmation email, and your account will revert to the free plan at the end of your billing period.

What Happens After You Cancel Evernote?
Your paid plan stays active until billing period ends
Canceling stops future auto-renewals. You keep all premium features including increased upload limits, offline access, and advanced search until the end of the current billing cycle.
Your notes are not deleted
All your notes, notebooks, tags, and attachments remain intact. Your account reverts to the Evernote Free plan, which has limits on monthly uploads and note size, but your existing content is preserved.
Free plan has upload and device limits
On the free plan, you have reduced monthly upload limits and limits on the number of devices you can sync to. If you have large notebooks, consider exporting important notes before downgrading.
Look for the Restore button to verify cancellation
After canceling, check your Billing page. If you see a Restore button instead of a Cancel button, your subscription was successfully canceled and will not renew. You will also receive a confirmation email.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will I lose my notes if I cancel Evernote?
No. All your existing notes, notebooks, tags, and attachments remain in your account. Your account reverts to the Evernote Free plan with reduced upload limits and features, but nothing is deleted.
Does Evernote offer refunds?
Evernote generally does not offer refunds for partial billing periods. Your subscription stays active with all paid features until the end of the cycle you already paid for.
Can I export my notes before canceling?
Yes. You can export individual notes or entire notebooks as ENEX files from the Evernote desktop or web app. You can also export as HTML. This is recommended if you plan to switch to another note-taking service like Notion, OneNote, or Apple Notes.
What are the differences between Evernote paid plans?
Evernote has restructured its plans to Starter and Advanced tiers (formerly Personal and Professional). Each tier offers different upload limits, search capabilities, and collaboration features. The cancellation process is the same regardless of which paid plan you are on.
How do I know if I successfully canceled?
Check your Billing page in Account Settings. If you see a Restore button where the Cancel button used to be, your subscription has been successfully canceled. You will also receive a confirmation email from Evernote.
