How to Cancel Mubi in 3 Steps
The cancel button is fine. Mubi puts it where you would expect it, and the flow takes about three minutes. The tricky part is making sure the charges actually stop.
Read this before you click cancel
If you do not receive a cancellation confirmation email, you did not cancel. This is the most reported Mubi failure mode on Sikayetvar, where users describe being billed for one to four months after a confirmed-feeling cancel. Screenshot the final page. Save the email. If you do not see either, repeat the flow.
The fast path (web billing)
Go to mubi.com/subscription, sign in, click End Subscription, confirm. Wait for the email. You will keep streaming until the end of your current billing period.
If you signed up through Apple, Google Play, or Amazon, Mubi.com cannot cancel for you. Jump to the third-party billing section below.
The three clicks, in detail
Open mubi.com/subscription and sign in
Direct URL skips the profile menu. Long way: profile icon, Account Settings, Subscription. Mubi's help article is sparse.
Click End Subscription
Some accounts see an optional pause-for-one-to-three-months prompt. Click through. No discount, no chat agent, no retention loop.
Confirm, then verify the email landed
Confirmation email arrives within a few minutes. If not, refresh mubi.com/subscription. Renewal date still showing means you are still subscribed. Repeat.
If you did not sign up through Mubi.com
Mubi can only cancel what it bills directly. Cancel where you're charged:
- Apple App Store: Settings, Apple ID, Subscriptions, Mubi, Cancel. Needs 24 hours before renewal.
- Google Play: Play Store, profile, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions, Mubi, Cancel.
- Amazon Prime Video Channel: see our Amazon Prime guide (Memberships, Prime Video Channels, Mubi, Cancel Channel).
When the charge actually stops
Streaming continues to the end of your current period. No prorated refund per Mubi's Terms Section 1.5: "Payments are nonrefundable and there are no refunds or credits for partially used periods." Cancel an annual in month two, you still watch ten more months for no money back. The account is not deleted; sign back in later and your watchlist resumes.
UK Mubi GO subscribers
Use this week's cinema ticket before cancelling. Per Mubi GO's terms, an unredeemed ticket is forfeited the moment you cancel. Streaming still runs to month-end. The week's value is roughly £13.
California residents: $1.6M settlement
Cejudo v. MUBI, Inc. alleges inadequate auto-renewal disclosures. If you live in California, signed up on or after April 1, 2021, and were auto-renewed between then and May 31, 2025 without a full refund, you likely qualify. Claim deadline: June 9, 2026. File at mubisettlement.com.
Free trial trap
Mubi's TOS Section 1.2: "You will not receive a notice from us that your free trial period has ended." Set your own calendar reminder a day early. The first sign will be the charge.
Questions people actually ask
Mubi charged me again after I cancelled. What do I do?
Check for the cancellation email dated when you cancelled. No email means the cancel did not complete. If you do have one, reply to Mubi support with email plus screenshot, and dispute the new charge with your card issuer. This pattern has 25-plus documented reports on Sikayetvar, so a chargeback is the realistic path.
Annual plan: do I get a refund for the unused months?
No. Terms Section 1.5 forbids prorated refunds. You keep access through the paid year. Plan as if a goodwill refund is not coming.
Signed up through Amazon Prime Video. Can I cancel on Mubi.com?
No. Amazon bills Prime Video Channel add-ons and Mubi has no power over it. See our Amazon Prime guide. Same logic for App Store and Google Play sign-ups.
If Mubi is going, the rest of the stack is worth a look
Now that Mubi is off the list, make sure nothing else is lurking.
Mubi is one of the easier ones. The post-cancel charge pattern is exactly what Subcut catches before it hits your statement again. Every recurring charge on your card, in about 60 seconds, no bank login.
