What Happens After You Cancel Tidal?

Access continues until your billing period ends

After canceling, you can still stream music in full quality until the end of your current billing cycle. You will not be charged again.

Your playlists and favorites are saved

Tidal keeps your playlists, favorite tracks, albums, and listening history tied to your account. If you resubscribe later, all your data will still be there.

Offline downloads are removed

Any music you downloaded for offline listening will become unavailable once your subscription ends. The downloaded files are encrypted and cannot be played without an active subscription.

Your account reverts to a free tier

After your billing period ends, your Tidal account reverts to the free tier with limited functionality. You can still browse the catalog but streaming will be restricted and ad-supported.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I lose my Tidal playlists if I cancel?

No. Your playlists, favorited tracks, and listening history remain saved in your Tidal account after cancellation. If you decide to resubscribe, everything will be exactly as you left it. However, offline downloads will no longer be playable.

Can I get a refund from Tidal?

Tidal does not typically provide refunds for partial billing periods. Your premium access continues until the end of the cycle you already paid for. If you subscribed through Apple or Google, you would need to request a refund through their respective platforms.

How do I cancel a Tidal family plan?

Only the plan owner can cancel a Tidal Family plan. When the owner cancels, all family members lose their premium access at the end of the billing period. Individual family members cannot cancel just their own access without the plan owner's involvement.

Can I transfer my Tidal playlists to Spotify or Apple Music before canceling?

Yes. Third-party services like Soundiiz, TuneMyMusic, and FreeYourMusic can transfer your Tidal playlists and favorites to other streaming platforms before you cancel. This is worth doing if you have curated playlists you want to keep.
